Ex Libris
Creating an Ex Libris(a bookplate inscribed to show the name of the book's owner) on the basis of my name and its initials.

02
I know 3 languages
Exploration of multiple languages such as English, Hindi, Gujarati and fusions of them as well. Decided to not go ahead with Gujarati 'જ' and English 'T' as it ended up looking like a 'à¤'
01
My name is S̶h̶e̶i̶l̶a̶ Jiali Thakkar
The Ex Libris was to be made surrounding your name or some aspect of my personality. Therefore, I chose my initials: JT.

Symbol & Calligraphic Approach(makes it look like I'm running a cult)
Tried to explore symbols and calligraphic logos however the quest for je ne sais quoi that I was looking for continued.
04
Origin of Name(I promise I'm Indian)
My name 'Jiali' has a Chinese origin that means good and beautiful. Therefore I decided to explore this aspect of the name.

05
JT but in English and Chinese

06
Fine Tuning
Working on brush strokes and flow of the brush pen so that the final ex libris would have a more balanced outcome.

08
Je ne sais quoi
Sound on!

07
Finalizing
Finalizing the Ex Libris. The ex libris got positive feedback from my peers as the initials, although in English still retained that Chinese calligraphic quality to them. Chinese calligraphy depicts discipline but also has a flowing quality which resonates with my personality of having a work ethic based on discipline and being creative enough for the ideas to flow. The end product of the ex libris was a stamp
